Sephora Spring Sale

The Sephora Spring sale has officially begun for #Rouge members. #VIB members will be able to access the sale starting Tuesday, April 21st followed by #Insiders towards the end week on the 23rd of April.

I honestly wasn’t planning to go as HAM as I did. I won’t lie I definitely had favorited a few things that I have been going back and forth about buying for months, but then (because this is clearly how I work) the morning the sale went live I just so happened to be experiencing insomnia at 2 AM and ended up pretty much buying EVERYTHING I had “wish-listed”. Actually, everything is generous because had I actually gotten everything I wouldn’t have needed to place a second order a few hours later,

Yes, ladies & gents, I went HAM… on day one and I can’t even tell you that I won’t buy more things throughout the length of the sale. Because that would make me a liar, and I definitely am not a liar. So, what exactly did I buy? Well, where do I begin?

What I Purchased:

1. Dyson AirWrap Styler – so remember how I said this was a total wishlist item that I couldn’t justify getting right now? Well, apparently all it took was Sephora to offer 20% for my impulses to race and hit “buy now” quicker than my dog running from a loud noise. I even, guilty, contemplated cancelling the order until I decided that I wouldn’t get that kind of a deal anywhere else, which is technically true…(or so I keep telling myself)

2. Drunk Elephant Shampoo & Conditioner – yes, again, impulsively reacted and hit “buy now” on the glossing shampoo and Marula cream conditioner. Granted, I had been thinking about trying this but I didn’t expect to buy it considering I still have some of my DryBar liquid glass shampoo/conditioner left and the Ouai Thick shampoo/conditioner but I did. I’m actually even thinking about getting the Dae shampoo/conditioner combo as well before the sale is over but I figured, one at a time honey.

3. Drunk Elephant Retinol cream – another wishlist item, this I totally intended on getting during the sale, it was the first actual item I planned to purchase in this transaction.

4. Biossance Detox Squalene + Tea Tree Detox mask – also actually intended on making this purchase during the sale. I’ve been dying to try this, especially with all the extra time I am spending at home. It’s the first actual self-care item I knew I wanted to buy the minute the sale started (and clearly, did).

5. Summer Friday Lip Butter Balm – I love everything I have that’s from this brand, so I knew I would get this eventually. I currently use the Kylie Skin Lip Mask daily so I wanted to try this as an alternate for the everyday balm, transitioning the Kylie Skin one to a more morning and night type of routine.

6. DryBar Blonde Ale Color-Enhancing Brightening hair mask – after the accidental pink incident I knew I would be adding this to the basket during the sale. I will also, hopefully, get the powder version as well before the sale is over. I decided to get this one first specifically because I can use it once or twice a week, where as the powder is more of a monthly maintenance choice.

7. Sephora Face Mask applicator – this was by far the least expensive item on my list, however essential considering we have to avoid touching our faces at all costs. With all the self-care I intend to continue to do, I felt this was a definite necessity as I would like to continue to use face masks during this COVID-19 situation.

8. Herbivore Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial – this was something I’ve been wanting and knew that the time to invest was during the sale as I would be getting a significant discount. I am a huge fan of this brand and want to continue to expand on my use and add more products to the collection.

9. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 – I was previously mistaken, this was the most inexpensive thing in my transaction. I want to expand on these products, but the other two recommended products had sold out, so while I wait for them to restock I figured I had to start somewhere!

As you can imagine, and see, this was a heavy purchase so while I do have other things I want to buy before May 1st when the sale ends, I know that for now this is more than I anticipated buying (at least off the bat).

I did want to mention the products that I have and use religiously. Since I still have plenty left in the bottles, I don’t think I will need to restock (at least, not right now), but they are still worth mentioning because I do really love the products!

Already Have, & I Would Buy Again:

1. Summer Friday Gel Cleanser – something I read early on regarding the COVID-19 was that while we shouldn’t be touching our faces, it helps to use gel-based cleansers to wash your face. Something about it killing the bacteria better than other cleansers. I bought this right around the time the whole social distancing/quarantine started and it’s something I use daily. I most likely will need to restock this in the upcoming weeks because I use it that much. Although, I do still use my Kylie Skin cleanser – it is used more when I shower, versus when I wake up and go to bed that I use the Summer Friday one.

2. Marc Jacob Youthquake Moisturizer – I actually bought this on the way to checkout at Sephora, again around the time the COVID-19 was starting, but as the travel size. Since I used the Kylie Skin moisturizer as my daily moisturizer before, I was only curious about this and wanted to give it a try. I ended up loving it SO much, I sprung for the full size. I still use, and love, the Kylie Skin one. I just realized that this gel based moisturizer is better for my skin at night when I need it to be really moisturizer before bed.

3. Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning drops (light) – my little sister actually had a skin breakout after using these, so you have to be careful but I haven’t experienced any reactions and I’ve been using it for more than 6 weeks on and off. I don’t use it every day, as most people know I am extremely pale so I don’t want it to look unnatural however I do mix it in my moisturizer every two days to give a subtle glow. I need to start mixing it in my body cream too for my arms and legs so I can get a real nice whole body glow, but since I’m not going anywhere I haven’t done it yet. I do recommend starting with the light shade first, if you don’t know how your skin will react. That could be the difference between my sister and my opposite reactions.

4. Summer Friday CC Me Vitamin C Serum – another Summer Friday favorite of mine; I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the Kylie Skin Vitamin C serum, so when that finished I happened to have gone to Sephora to buy more mascara for my aunt, and happily stumbled upon this beautiful product ( i find it to be a genuinely pretty bottle). It’s extremely satisfying to put this serum on before my moisturizer, and sometimes depending on whether I’ll just be home or actually seeing people I’ll leave just this and my next product, moisturizing glow oil on.

5/6. I have two moisturizing oils. First is, Herbivore Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil and the other is, Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate Glow Oil. Both of these are equally moisturizing and leave my face feeling moisturized. I like to switch between the two depending on which moisturizer I’m wearing or whether or not I’m going to add some CC cream or foundation.

7. Herbivore Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Serum – oddly, I can’t find this on Sephora’s website or app at the moment. It wasn’t that long ago that I made the purchase, however this is the first retinol serum I purchased and I do love it. Hopefully it hasn’t been discontinued.

8. Gucci Beauty Mascara – this is a completely recent purchase and I honestly LOVE it. Mascara is one of the three things I absolutely MUST wear if I am leaving the house. I love to experiment, although I have a short list of absolute favorites and this is one of them. I have a mascara round up posting coming up and I guarantee you that this is at the top of my list.

9. DryBar Double Shot – even though I have the Dyson Supersonic, and I now bought the Air Wrap Styler I still have pretty much all the hot tools that DryBar sells. This double shot is my FAVORITE of those hot tools, and one I use whenever I want a good blowout. I’ll start with my Dyson by rough drying, and then I’ll go in with the Double Shot and finish my blowout. It is worth every penny in my opinion. I say this because I had the Revlon version of this device and it not only burned my hair, but made it smell like it had been cooked for dinner. I was obviously not happy, so when this came out around Christmas time – I bought it for my mother and older sister, as well as myself. Trust me, it makes a difference.

10. DryBar Liquid Glass Shampoo & Conditioner – Again, I am probably looking like a crazy person with the amount of shampoo and conditioners I’ve mentioned on this blog and in this post but this one (so far) has been my absolute favorite. I’m still finishing with the Ouai trial and error, and I do actually like it a lot but the DryBar is the one I’d use that day that I need my hair looking all kinds of shiny. I also use their Charcoal shampoo as a clarifying shampoo, it’s the best of the charcoal one’s I’ve tried. My sister is going to try the Ouai detox one so I’ll let you know what she thinks.

The final item I want to include on this list (11.) is the Dr. Brandt Needles No More Baggage eye de-puffing gel. This is describable with one word; WOW. I tried this for the first time last year at the Sephora in Disney Springs. My aunt had gone in to, of course, buy more mascara (typical, I know). She was in line to pay when I started trying different things on in the back. Let’s just say, when I put this gel on and noticed an instant difference I ran to her in the line. I asked her what looked different from the two sides of my face under the eye. She said, this one looks like you put some makeup on. I responded, I put a de-puffing gel. We asked for two 100 point samples of the gel to take home. It was almost too good to be true. This quickly became the second item I must have on before I leave my house (after mascara, before lipgloss and/or balm). I even convinced my uncle to try it. I find it to be miraculous to be honest. It is THAT good.

Additionally to my two transactions, I placed one for my older sister. Her request were much simpler than mine though. She wanted the new Ouai detox shampoo, the Ouai for Medium hair shampoo/conditioner and the Laneige lip sleeping mask (original flavor). My younger sister is still rounding up her purchases, so stay tuned for an updated post once she decides.
