COVID Made Me Do It

We’re already in the middle of August; 2020 has been a year full of chaos, confusion, and frustration. Cancelled trips, weddings, family events, cancelled concerts and events; millions of jobs lost. Loss of family and friends personally affected by COVID-19. It’s something that people will never forget; not now, and not in 30 years when this “year” becomes apart of Science and History books. It’s a horrible analogy, but for me it’s similar to 9-11. A day that went down in history for it’s horrific events; and yet I remember exactly where I was when the planes first hit the towers. 2020 will be like that for our kids, and their kids, and so forth. It’ll be a time in history people will remember every detail like when and where they were when COVID started to unravel in the United States.

I don’t really know where I want to go with this post; it’s really a rant. After five months of lockdown, self-quarantine, and stay at home orders…I’m tired, I am frustrated, and most of all I am afraid. How much longer will we have to endure this “new normal”? With the political issues that our country is experiencing starting to mesh with the scientific/public health issues, who knows what is going to happen. Will we make it to the election? Will our country ever get through this experience? What have we learned from it? Are you managing your money better? Or are you like me, throwing it away on crap? Has your job been impacted by this pandemic? What about your family? Do you know anyone who has fallen victim to COVID?

It’s truly hard to fathom the this is real life, and not some dramatized TV Show or Movie. We are physically living through what will be come a historical event in future Science and History text books. My nephews and god son will have to study this horrific time when they’re in school. What will we tell them when they ask about it? Would you remember how you felt? Depression? Anger? Frustration? Anxiety? Is that even what you’re feeling? Am I alone in feeling that? This pandemic has effected people in so many ways that I’m not even sure there is one person feeling the exact same thing.
