What I Packed for my Trip to Disneyland & California
This trip to California was going to be very different than my previous two trips to Disneyland and my other two trips to California, for work. Why, you ask? Because it was FREAKING FREEZING. Coming from Miami, usually, I am all for cold weather but knowing I had two races during my weekend in California I was rather hesitant. Anyway, while I was planning my outfits, I put together some inspo pictures to remember what I wanted to wear for each day. Let me breakdown my outfits by day.
Thursday, January 11th: Miami to LAX, LAX to Anaheim, RunDisney Expo, Downtown Disney & Disneyland
Since we would be traveling for most of the day, I wore very comfy clothes. This was almost thwarted when I spilled my entire Diet Coke on myself in the flight, but my aunt is really good at getting stains out of clothes and was about to salvage my outfit. I think this was the first time I have ever packed for a long trip and not taking backup outfits (which is huge, if you know me). Thankfully, she did save the outfit and I was able to proceed as normal without dipping into other outfits. Above is the outfit inspo and here is the actual outfit executed:
Friday, January 12th: Breakfast at Storyteller’s Cafe, Disney’s California Adventure, Disneyland, Downtown Disney
For the second day of the trip, I planned an outfit around the zip pullover I had purchased the weekend before my trip while at Disney World. This pullover has sold out property wide on both Coasts, so I was excited to style it. I also wanted to wear my new Stoney Clover Land Mickey crossbody, which matched perfectly with the fit I created for this day. Since I knew we’d be busy from morning to night, I had to be comfy, so I re-wore my On sneakers for the day. I did bring my Free People Pippa jacket with me in my SCL Mickey & Friends backpack for later in the day when the temperatures dropped, so that was a nice addition to the look. Here’s how it turned out:
Saturday, January 13th: RunDisney 10K, Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Rodeo Drive, and the Grove LA
I didn’t plan out my outfits for the races the way I did for the exploring and park hopping, but I basically replicated what I wore in Disney World the weekend before when I did the WDW Half Marathon. Here’s a picture of what I looked like for that (before the race):
The only addition to this look, is that I brought with me fleece sweater and sweatpants that I was going to donate because they were big on me. Usually, during races that are chilly, people bring clothes that we are willing to part with during the race. Disney then collects the clothing, washes it, and donates it themselves to the homeless. Here is what the look looked like during the race, while wearing the fleece (I had already thrown away the sweats at this point).
Once the race was over, we had a huge day ahead. First was a stop on Rodeo Drive, followed by lunch on the outdoor patio of the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. After lunch, we stopped over on Roberston Drive to walk by some of the restaurants like SUR and found a Louis Vuitton Pop-Up for Pharell William’s first collection as Creative Director. Here is the day two look I planned and a picture of how it turned out (I had to take a selfie at lunch):
Sunday, January 14th: RunDisney Half Marathon, West Hollywood (Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, Hollywood Sign)
For the RunDisney Half, I repeated the same outfit I planned for the previous race (a new set, I did NOT re-wear a single item) but added leopard print fleece and sweatpants that I eventually tossed. Here is how that look turned out, I think this was around mile 5:
My mom and aunt actually met up with me at the finish line, which was HUGE because I’ve been doing these races for ten years and this was the first time they’ve ever woken up and gone to cheer me on!
After the half was done, we walked over to Downtown Disney for some last-minute shopping and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the day. Here’s the outfit I had planned for day two of exploring LA.
Once we were dressed and ready to go, we drove down to LA and headed first to see the Hollywood Sign. Since I couldn’t find an exact location that would show us the sign without a hike, we ended up at the Ovation Hollywood which is a shopping center in West Hollywood that’s right off the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Here we were able to see a beautiful shot of the Hollywood sign, then we had lunch at Dave & Buster’s where we were able to catch the LA Rams v. Detroit Lions playoff game and ended the day by walking down the Walk of Fame and checking out the Chinese Theater.
As the day wound down, we stopped at the Marshall’s and then Target on Hollywood Blvd that were on the way to our car. It was a nice end to a long day. After this, we headed back to the hotel so we could pack our bags for the flight home on Monday.
Monday, January 15th: LAX to MIA
For the flight home, I decided to be VERY comfortable. I wore my Stoney Clover Lane x Mickey & Friends sweatpants, a long-sleeved t-shirt, and then I took my new Tigger pullover sweatshirt with me on the flight in case I got cold. Throwing on some fuzzy socks and my platform converse completed the look. I bought some books to read, but I ended up watching Gilmore Girls the entire flight home instead.
And that rounds up what I took with me for five days in California, and how I planned each outfit. Let me know if you’d like me to do more of these posts!
