What Do You Miss Most?

Pre-Pandemic life feels like it was a decade ago, and it’s really only been one year. How CRAZY is that? Technically, for me, it won’t be a year of WFH/Pandemic life until March 14th, but that’s only a blink of an eye away if you think about it.

Last year this weekend, I was retuning from a week long trip to Los Angeles for work. The year before that I was in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic for my cousins bachelorette weekend at the Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Punta Cana. Boy, oh boy, do I miss traveling. Luckily, potentially unluckily, I will be flying to Utah at the end of the month. Hopefully everything goes well and we stay safe, and unexposed to this insane virus; but I really am looking forward to going somewhere other than Orlando!

Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Orlando Parks and Resort

Although I’ve still gone to Orlando/Disney a few times, it’s not the same as it was pre-pandemic. If there’s something I miss, it’s going to the Disney parks without a mask and the six feet apart rule. I miss character meet and greets, parades, and fireworks especially the Halloween and Christmas parties. Those were my absolute favorite! I haven’t even gone to a water park in over a year, which is depressing to say the least.

Outside of theme parking, another thing I miss is going to the movies. When I lived in Orlando, my favorite way to destress was going to Downtown Disney and catching a movie at the dine in theater, by myself. Even when I moved back to Miami, I would go to the movies on my own and just destress. When I wanted to go and have people with me, I’d go with my aunt and uncle.

Another thing I miss is going to the beach, not Miami Beach (I actually hate Miami Beach) but rather Siesta Key on the West Coast of Florida. We went last year, but it wasn’t the same. We couldn’t go to Big Olaf’s and get our homemade ice cream without it looking like a ghost town. We couldn’t even go to Publix, we ended up doing InstaCart which wasn’t the same experience.
