My Best Friend’s Wedding: Mexico Edition
I tried to tell myself that I would scale back how much I shop on Amazon, but I think I was fooling myself. My best friend, whom I’ve been friends since I was a kid, is getting married at the beautiful Xcaret resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico soon and in preparation for the trip, I’ve done some shopping (because DUH). That being said, I wanted to share with you what I’ve purchased and will be making its way to Mexico for the festivities. Just to let you know, a lot is from Amazon LOL
I feel like first and foremost, we should discuss the itinerary and/or plan I’ve created to provide better context on what I will be needing.
I leave on a Thursday, which is two days prior to the wedding, at the ass crack of dawn. Pro: this means I arrive in Mexico early; Con: I will be sleep deprived. I am hoping to be at the resort by noon (this is being generous with time since I am trying to give myself plenty of time to get my bags from the baggage pickup, go through customs, and travel to the resort).
Once I have checked in and am at the resort, I hope to get changed immediately to start taking advantage of the amenities. This all-inclusive resort is situated between the Mayan rainforest and the Caribbean Sea and includes access to several of the Grupo Xcaret parks which include Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xavage, Xoximilco, Xenses and Xenotes. The resort also has 11 dining experiences, as well as a spa. Thankfully since I get there early, I plan to do as much as I can while I’m there.
I am thinking that Thursday will be a laid back, pool day. This way I can float in the pool, go to the bars, lay out and most of all, get acquainted with the hotel. I figure that afternoon, after the pools, I can grab something to eat and then at night head to one of the parks that has night activities. Friday will consist of the first event for the festivities, so I hope to hit one of the parks in the morning and then head to the Welcome Party.
The weekend events have a very strict dress code, so for the Welcome Party it’s white and the Wedding is black. I’ve borrowed a dress from my older sister for the Welcome Party and I ordered a dress on Amazon for the Wedding (this was on my last haul post).
Now, for the point of this post: here is everything I’ve purchased and will be packing for the trip. For ease, I’m going to break it up by day since that’s how I’ve laid out my packing list.

Other items I purchased that will be going to Mexico with me are:
- I-SEA Lexi Sunglasses from Amazon
- Vlando Travel Jewelry Box for Women with 6 Velvet Jewelry Zipper Pockets from Amazon
- Melrose and Market Straw Fashion Visor from Nordstrom Rack
The ceremony itself has an all-black wardrobe requirement, which I absolutely love. I plan to wear the black dress with the Allegra K strappy block heels that Claudia Oshry raved about in her last Amazon Live. The best thing is, that because my best friend loves me, I’ll be taking my black Golden Goose sneakers for the reception. Since the bridal party will be changing into sneakers for the reception, he let me know to take some (you know, since I’m practically family). I will not tell you how freaking happy this made me. My feet thanked him in advanced LOL
During the day of the wedding, I figured I could hang out by the pool in the morning and early afternoon then head to the room to shower and get ready in the early evening. The wedding starts at 6 PM, so I should have plenty of time to soak up some sun and enjoy the resort. Sunday, which is the day I head home, will be spent either at the pool or in the spa. My flight is actually pretty late, so I should be able to enjoy a little more than half the day soaking up the amenities.
I’m really excited for this mini-vacation slash wedding. I’ve been friends with J for over 20 years and I cannot wait to celebrate his and Jasmine’s love. They’re beyond perfect for each other.
