Late Start to 2023
It’s officially no longer the “new year”, but that’s not going to stop me from writing this post. CLEARLY, I got a late start on organizing my life and blog for 2023, but better late than never!
I decided that this year, I am going to stop making big promises and just try to be consistent. I’m extremely behind in several aspects of my life, especially in terms of 2023, but I’m determined to succeed no matter what this year throws at me.
My biggest goal for 2023 is to read 80 books (I successfully read 50 books last year, and that was great). I can already tell you: I’ve gotten a late start on that, as well, and I’m already 4 books behind where I should be at this point in the year. However, as part of my strategy, I am going to force myself to listen to more audiobooks this year. The reason for this is that I can multitask reading two books at once (I saw on IG that if you read a rom-com, listen to non-fiction so your brain can compartmentalize it better) and something I have recently discovered is that non-fiction books are easier for me to listen to versus read because I tend to get bored quickly if I read them. I’ve already listened to two books and they both have been wins.
Another goal for 2023 is to continue to lose weight. I’ve dropped 20 pounds, and I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m motivated and focused on trying to be the healthiest version of myself. I un-paused my Orange Theory membership and plan to go back to OTF at least once a week, this will also help me with the next RunDisney race I have in April.
I’m pretty sure I’m done with half marathons for 2023, or marathons for that matter, but I do have one more race weekend consisting of a 5K, 10K, and 10-miler. There are a few more 5k’s this year I want to participate in, both for charity and for fun, but I’m done with the longer races beyond the 10-miler.
RunDisney actually heads back to Disneyland next year, so I think I’m going to sign up for that race and potentially the Marathon weekend (half marathon only, I definitely cannot do a full) so I can get the special edition “Coast-to-Coast” medal. I am definitely a sucker for Disney medals.
One last goal I want to focus on this year is consistency. I want to blog consistently, I want to read consistently, I want to work out/train consistently, and most of all, I want to be consistent in my social decisions. If I say I am going to do something, I want to make sure I follow through with that decision.
I also used to love Podcasts when I worked at Disney, so I want to try and get back into them. I have been listening to Drama Queens (and rewatching OTH for the 200th time), but of course, I am behind on the episodes – this is where the CONSISTENCY THING comes into play. Add that to the list as well!
Let’s see what this year brings, I’m hoping it’s a year to remember (it is our Jordan year, after all)
