Favorite Holiday Candles
The holidays are upon us and gift guides are flooding our social media channels and blogs; I’ve actually seen several posts already, on the internet, about bloggers or lifestyle websites and their favorite Holiday candles.
I’m not sure if you know this about me, but I am a huge candle lover (and total hoarder). My all-time favorite candles to buy during the holidays were from Henri Bendel (when they were around) and I actually have several hidden in my closet which I refuse to burn until I go through all my other candles. Problem is, I keep buying other candles so the pile keeps mounting! I’ll probably request they be burnt at my funeral (kidding, maybe).
So what other candles do I buy/burn? Well, right now I am still burning the candle I made when I went to Candleland Miami which was made with a wintergreen scent (because that’s my favorite scent, all year round). When I am not burning my Candleland Miami candle I turn to Anthropologie for the Capri Blue Volcano which is another scent I love, year round. Last year I bought the extra large size for my older sister for Christmas and I have several medium sizes in the hoarder pile!
I have also recently bought two candles from the Hotel Collection which is a local company who make candles that smell like famous/popular hotels. I bought the My Way candle which was inspired by the 1 Hotel and the Black Velvet candle which is inspired by the Edition hotel in Miami Beach. They are currently having a Black Friday sale, giving 30% off with the code: BLACKFRIDAY.
Now that the holiday season is upon us and Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals started at the beginning of the month, I’ve been debating whether to buy any candles for gifts. Since it typically is my go-to gift, I feel bad giving it for every holiday….but it’s just such a great gift! I’m super indecisive about it, but I think I may do it for specific people this year.
Everyone, of course, is into buying the expensive (and in my opinion overpriced) candles of the moment like Le Labo Santal 33 or Jo Malone. But since that’s obviously not in my budget, I recently found some knock off brands that smell almost the same!
First one being, Maison Louis Marie No.04 Bois de Balincourt Candle, which I found at Sephora. I’m actually very excited to smell this beauty. Another candle I buy, for myself and gifts, is from another local Miami company Taja Collections. My little sister actually introduced then to me on Mother’s Day when she surprised me with an Enzo candle. She also bought one for my parents house that says “Casa Jauregui” on it; I believe she also gifted my sister one and we bought my cousin one for her wedding anniversary.
Another great candle is by Voluspa, I absolutely love the White Currants & Alpine Lace, but honestly they’re all pretty wonderful. I actually found the absolute best holiday gift set where you can try their holiday scents at Sephora and it’s on sale! My trigger fingers are itching to “buy now”!
These aren’t to say that I still don’t buy candles at Bath & Body Works. You may not know, but Bath & Body Works parent company is the same of Victoria Secret and Henri Bendel (may they rest in retail peace) which means some of their scents closely resemble some of my favorites from HB. First of those being the Mahogany Teakwood (which is available all year, and smells like HB’s Winter in New York) and Under the Christmas Tree which is obviously holiday themed. The Under the Christmas Tree one in particular reminds me of HB’s Mistletoe scent.
I actually just discovered the magic of a wick trimmer and a bell snuffer. Usually, I get a paper towel after it’s been completely blown out and I clean my candle wick like that. HA! Where was I when this became a thing? MIND-BLOWN.
