A lot has happened in the last three weeks that I was MIA…I don’t even know where to begin.
Let’s start with July 4th weekend. My best friends little sister and family have been planning the wedding of the century for the last three years. It was originally supposed to be in a beautiful ranch in Colorado, but with COVID and the world going to shit it was moved back to Miami. The wedding itself was beautiful, and the bride was absolutely breathtaking. The entire evening was a dream come true, for the guests watching the bride and groom and the bridal party. We’ve been waiting for this day for years, and now that it came and went, we have made memories that will last a lifetime. It was such a fun night full of new and old friends, dancing, and celebrating the beautiful bride and her new groom. I stayed at the hotel the entire weekend, making a little staycation out of the entire thing. Although I wouldn’t recommend the hotel, it was fun to “get away” for the weekend.
The week before this past weekend, and this is honestly why I was so delayed in writing anything on the blog, was when the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida collapsed. Honestly, everything since that day has been heartbreaking. Originally, it was about keeping faith that family and friends of the victims would be reunited with missing family members and then it became about making sure the families who were displaced have the necessities they’ll need to rebuild a life after the total destruction of their homes, and the recovery of the bodies for the family members who unfortunately lost their lives. I personally didn’t know anyone in the building, but I have family and friends who were impacted. Yesterday, 13 days after the initial collapse, family members of still missing people were told that the search is changing directions. Instead of “search and rescue” it has become a recovery mission. First Responders have been working around the clock, several days at a time to try and recover anything they can for those families. As an outsider looking in, I am heartbroken for those families; I also am grateful that we have such amazing people who work as First Responders or on the special teams that were called to assist in the search and rescue. It won’t bring everyone back, but it makes a difference to know that they won’t stop until we all have answers.
We are now eight days into July and I still haven’t finished my second book this month (actually, I just started really trying to read it). The first book I literally binged, this book I’m struggling to give my full attention because I’ve been re-watching One Tree Hill for the tenth time (I became re-obsessed when the Drama Queens OTH podcast came out). I’ve also been watching Younger in between since I am trying to get into the series.
Over the last week and I half, I have gone on an insane shopping binge. Last weekend, for the wedding I bought new shoes, the Michele Apple Watch band, I also bought dresses from SheIn, a few bathing suits (one of which I kept, and already wore), and I bought a GoPro. I’ve been dying for one, so I finally caved. I spent last weekend trying to get it to turn on, but now that I figured out how to turn it on I can’t wait to use it. I have several things in my shopping cart, specifically at Sephora, like the new Dae Monsoon Hair Mask, more of the Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Anti-Aging Oil (I’m almost out of mine), some moisturizers I wanted to try – one from The Inkey List and the other from Innbeauty Project, and a new cleansing wash from the Innbeauty Project. I’ve never tried the brand before so I wanted to give it a shot, although my favorite cleanser is the one from Guerlain, the Orchidée Impériale The Rich Cleansing Foam (a little goes a very long way).
And that is all I’ve got!
