GUY AROCH / BLAKE BROWN

One Month In: My Blake Brown Hair Care Thoughts

Blake Lively launched her “Blake Brown Hair Care” line, exclusively at Target, on August 4th, 2024 and it was Target’s biggest hair care launch on record. Target has confirmed that on launch day, Blake Brown had the five best-selling hair care items at Target

Actress and entertainer, Blake Lively, had been working on this for seven years before it officially became available and it is inspired by her own personal routine of shampoo, hair masks, and styling products. Her secret? Proper hair care is based on the right balance of strength and moisture, and it does not include a traditional conditioner. Instead she uses a hair mask. It’s a simple and innovative way to provide affordable hair care to her legion of fans.

The products in the line are vegan, cruelty-free and smell phenomenal. The packaging is also extremely unique and looks super cute on display in the bathroom. They are also made of plastic that was 100% post-consumer recycled, so they’re good for the environment as well!

Now that I have used the products for a little over a month, I am comfortable enough with the products to tell you what I really think.

Overall, I think the products are great. My hair is soft, healthy, and smells delicious when I use the products. It is important to note that I do still use my Kérastase shampoo on some wash days, and I alternate between the Nourishing line and the Strengthening line when it’s time for the Blake Brown days.

I typically try to wash my hair on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday’s. This week, since I came back from Orlando on Sunday, I washed my hair: Monday and Wednesday then I’ll wash it Friday and Sunday. Using this week’s washing schedule as an example, the products I used were: Blake Brown Nourishing Shampoo and Mask on Monday, Kerastase on Wednesday, Blake Brown Strengthening  Shampoo and Mask on Friday and then, Sunday I will restart my regular routine with Kerastase.

The Leave-In Potion has been used every single hair wash day since I brought it home, along with my Kérastase Première Repairing Anti-Frizz serum, regardless which shampoo product I used. That being said, I do want to disclose that I have already repurchased this product and will continue to do so. For sure.

Although I haven’t tried the other remaining products, I’m sure they’re just as good. I would say that out of those products, I would probably only try the Pre-Shampoo. I don’t typically use dry shampoo or mousse (I don’t like how my hair feels when I put those products in).

I do really like [both] the Nourishing products and the Strengthening products BUT…I do not see myself repurchasing both lines when the product runs out. I feel like that might be an oxymoron, but my reasoning should help clear up any confusion.

Why wouldn’t I repurchase both the Nourishing Shampoo and Mask, as well as the Strengthening Shampoo and Mask, when I finish the products? Well, that is because, for what my hair needs, the Nourishing line has yielded better results..

That could be because of the Kerastase products I use in between washes, or it could be the product themselves, but I have felt and seen my hair have positive results when using the Nourishing over the Strengthening products. This is not to say that in the future I might not repurchase both, or I might want to switch, because that is absolutely likely. I am just saying that when I finish the products, I will only be choosing one of the two lines to buy again.

I mean, with how much I love to switch up products and try new things, it would be irresponsible of me to rebuy all of them and then not end up using the products! I’ve been trying really hard to stop doing that (LOL).

At the end of the day, my opinion on the Blake Brown Hair Care products is a positive one. I would probably recommend it to you if you were looking for an affordable hair care product that smells deliciously and leaves your hair feeling healthy and refreshed. The Leave-In Potion is an automatic, absolute, slay and then depending on what your specific needs are (Nourishing vs. Strengthening) I’d tell you to get the Shampoo and Mask.

At first, I was confused as to why she didn’t release a conditioner, until I read an article by Target where she talked about choosing to opt for a more intensive hair treatment that focuses on specific hair concerns instead.

The more I think about my hair health after using these products, I truly think they’re helping it get healthier. I’m babysitting my nephew tonight and before my cousin left she told me my hair looked great. I had to think for a minute, but I realized I used the strengthening shampoo and mask today. I am starting to get more and more compliments after using the Blake Brown hair care products! Honestly, SLAY.
