On this day, a queen was born

Let me tell you a little bit about my best friend. Carmen and I met in highschool, a whopping fifteen years ago, and we have been inseparable since. Although I moved to Gainesville for my first semester of college and then eventually to Orlando for six and a half years, our friendship never faultered. I’m pretty sure the handful of times that we have fought, the fights have not lasted more than a day or two because in that time we’ll have some kind of gossip or story we just have to tell eachother.

When she had her baby, my godson, I was in the delivery room with her and her husband. When they were living in Miami, I would go over their house two or three times a week to hangout or babysit. When I found out I was pregnant, she was the first friend I told. When she found out she was pregnant, I was the first friend she told. I even did her gender reveal in Orlando!

Honestly, Carmen and I are soulmates. You know that quote from Sex and the City, “Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates, and guys are just people to have fun with,” that describes Carmen and I. I dated my ex-boyfriend for almost a decade, and through every argument, breakup, and milestone Carmen was there with me. When we threw her bachlorette weekend in October, she shared the spotlight with me so we could have a mini-babymoon for Enzo. Even though I didn’t get to actually attend her wedding because of what happened with Enzo, I made sure that I was apart of her getting ready and I also made my co-maid of honor read her my speech.

We’ve traveled together, we’ve gone to an insane amount of movies, disney trips, and concerts together. She’s the one friend that I talk to all day everyday; even though with all of my friends I could go months without speaking, and we’ll pick up like we just talked an hour before…Carmen and I, we don’t make it an entire day without talking to eachother albeit via text or FaceTime.

She is the Cristina Yang to my Meredith Grey; she entertains my obsession with Law and Order, Criminal Minds, Fifty Shades of Grey, One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, and Friends. I was the one who introduced her to Friends; she had never seen it until I made her watch a few episodes and then she binged the entire series. That’s just one piece of our relationship. I can’t even explain to you our obsession with eachother! I couldn’t picture my life without her; it’s been too long.
