Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and even though it’s a trigger holiday for me I still try my best to put a smile on my face and get through it. As I mentioned, this year I’ll be able to do nothing (which is my favorite way to celebrate trigger holiday’s) but I still have to buy the mother’s in my life a little something. I know the day isn’t about the gifts, but it’s still a nice way of recognizing those motherly inspirations in your life. I usually have a handful of gifts that I gravitate towards for specific people and events (I.e. birthday, hallmark holiday’s, etc). Regardless, I try very hard to get something that will be meaningful for the person I’m buying for.

For myself, I always buy something that is specific to Enzo; last years, I bought myself a Helen Ficalora charm with his initial and his name engraved on the back. Then for his birthday, I bought myself another Helen Ficalora charm that says “MAMA” with his birthday engraved on the back. This year, for Mother’s Day, I bought myself a Haverhill necklace with his initial (E) and birthstone (blue topaz). I saw it on Kendall Kremer (from Styled Snapshots) instagram and instantly fell in love. It’s definitely an investment, but to me those are the best investments.

I wanted to put together a gift guide for the different kinds of mother’s in people’s lives:

  1. Haverhill Birthstone Necklace – this is what I got myself this year; I love sentimental gifts for myself because it’s how I honor Enzo’s memory and legacy. I absolutely fell in love with this idea and can’t wait for it to arrive. You can choose rush shipping, but since I’m not celebrating anything special this year I decided it wasn’t necessary.
  2. Helen Ficalroa Charms – I have four charms from Helen Ficalora: Enzo’s initial, MAMA, his birthstone, and my birthstone. Next I’ll be adding my initial to the collection.
  3. Taja Collection Candle – one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received was from my perfect little sister from Taja Collection. Taja is a local candle company in Miami and she had a candle personalized with baby feet and the top of the candle had Enzo’s birthday, height and weight. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a candle more in my life (and I absolutely love candles). I love buying these now as gifts, they have such cute default options and you can always add a special customization if you choose to.
  4. Customized Mugs – I actually did this for my best friend for Christmas, but it was a mug of her and I. For Mother’s Day, you can have a mug made with your pet, child, or a special quote/saying. It’s always such a fun gift to give and receive.
  5. Dogeared Necklaces – this is another personalized gift you can gift someone. In the past I’ve gifted my godmother, sisters, and mother one of these cute necklaces.
  6. Blower Brush – My mother had a very specific request this year: she wanted one of the round blow-dry brushes. My older sister and I both have the DryBar Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush, which is the one I bought for her but there are several with different price points available: Drybar The Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush ($150), amika Hair Blow Dryer Brush ($100), Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer ($58)
  7. AirPods – there are three kinds of AirPods currently available: AirPod Pro ($249) and AirPods with Wireless Charging Case ($199) and AirPods with Charging Case ($159)
  8. Books – Personally, I love reading so you can buy me a books any day. It doesn’t even have to be a book to read, it can be a coffee table book or a self-help book. You name it, I love it!
  9. Milk Bar Assorted Truffle Box – for the foodie, I absolutely love the Milk Bar truffles. Target sells them, but you can always get them straight from Milk Bar’s website

I also love to make things, which makes the gift giving a little more personal. I have a cricut machine, so I can make pretty much anything – beer koozies, personalized Yeti’s, shot glasses, candles, makeup bags, etc. The cricut makes gift giving that much more fun.
