How Taylor Swift (and This Book) Pulled Me Out of My Reading Slump

If you’ve read my previous post, then you know—and if you have not, well…

I have a confession to make—I’ve been stuck in a serious reading slump.

You know the kind I’m talking about—where you miss reading, you want to fall into a book, but nothing seems to stick. You start, stop, scroll, get distracted, and quietly stack books that go untouched. I’ve been there for what feels like forever.

But something shifted. And surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly), that shift came thanks to Taylor Swift.

The Book That Reignited the Spark

The first book I’ve fully read since acknowledging this slump is one that truly shook me back to life: There’s Nothing Like This: The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift by: Kevin Evers.

This wasn’t just a good book. It was the right book at the right time. A deeply compelling, emotional, and eye-opening look at the brilliance of Taylor—not just the artist, but the woman, the strategist, the storyteller, the empire.

It reminded me why I love reading. Why I crave stories. And why some books don’t just entertain—they shift something in you.

My Review (Posted on Goodreads, Amazon, & Audible)

There’s Nothing Like This felt like someone finally put into words everything I’ve always admired about Taylor Swift—but never quite knew how to express. This book doesn’t just tell her story; it honors the genius behind every move, from reclaiming her music to redefining what it means to be a woman in control of her own narrative. It truly is a love letter to Taylor Swift—the brand, the brains, and the undeniable talent.

What I loved most was how the book offers an emotional, empowering, and eye-opening look at what Taylor has done with her career, her music, and her identity as a cultural force. I found myself tearing up at times (no joke!)—not because anything was sad, but because it all rang so true. Taylor isn’t just talented; she’s a strategist, a storyteller, a force of nature. And this book captures that with so much respect and clarity.

If you’re a fan, you’ll be deeply moved. If you’ve ever doubted her, this book will change your mind.

What This Book Meant to Me

There’s something incredibly healing about reading a book that gets you—one that feels like it sees something you’ve always felt, but never quite said out loud. This was that book.

It didn’t just reignite my admiration for Taylor Swift (which, honestly, was already pretty high); it also reminded me how powerful a well-told story can be. It cracked open that part of me that’s been quiet for months—the part that wants to read, to reflect, to feel something through words again.

And maybe this is the start of something. Maybe this is the spark I needed.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a longtime Swiftie, a curious outsider, or someone fascinated by the power of branding, storytelling, and self-reinvention—this book is must-read.

Taylor Swift didn’t just build an empire. She built it intentionally, brilliantly, and often against the odds. This book helps you see the genius behind every step—and if you’re anything like me, it’ll leave you feeling inspired, emotional, and in awe.

And maybe, just maybe, it’ll help you find your way back to the magic of reading too.

Have you read this book or recently come out of a reading slump yourself? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear what helped you reconnect with reading.
