This week is a short one, and Thank God at that! I am so ready for a long, relaxing, weekend (yeah right, as if Christmas could ever be relaxing). The Christmas drama has already begun. Since I was little, I don’t eat pig on Christmas. When I was seven, my dad took me and my cousin to pick out the pig, and once I knew what was going on I knew I could never eat it again!
My family is Cuban so Christmas means the “Caja China”, which is when the pig is roasted in a wooden box for several hours and then eaten for dinner. It’s usually a two to three day affair. The pig was delivered today, tomorrow we season, and Thursday we roast.
Then on Christmas morning, we wake up and head over to my dad’s house for presents. After that, we come back to my house for a family day where everyone stops by and we exchange gifts.
Honestly COVID has changed several things for Christmas, like our cousins won’t be joining us. The Christmas Eve/Noche Buena dinner is going to be less than 15 people (first time in my entire life) and several of our family members won’t be coming by then or Christmas Day. I actually have to arrange where to send my cousins gifts, since I won’t see them this year.
On a non-Christmas related note, I am finally getting to read book 4 of 5 from The Wedding Date series. I really love this series, and can’t wait to have the time to relax and read this weekend. I want to finish the two last books before 2021. Next year I am going to set and attempt to reach a higher “books read” goal.
I’ve been trying to think of what else I want to make a goal for 2021, but with how weird 2020 has been I honestly have no idea. So far the reading goal, a weight loss/get in shape goal, and a start a savings goal are the three focuses for 2021. Do you have any resolutions/goals you want to meet in 2021?
In case I don’t post again, have a Merry Christmas!
