I’m totally behind on the currently post for this week; I originally intended to have it done early, I even started drafting my ideas last Sunday! However, I also had finally gotten around to reading my book, ended up finishing it in two days and then I started the following book in the series, also finishing that in two days.

Now, I’m taking a break from the series and I’m going to finish reading, Sex & Vanity by Kevin Kwan (he wrote Crazy, Rich, Asians). I am pretty into it, but of course work got in the way so I’ll have to get back into it this weekend. Speaking of work; this week was pretty intense (the usual) but it ended with such a wonderful surprise that I still kinda feel like I’m living in a dream.

So, this week was a rough one. We had payroll, production wasn’t doing things the way we needed them to, it was just all around stressful…but we pulled through! On Wednesday, we were informed that a coworker was let go. The company decided to eliminate that specific position, which was both shocking and sad. Then on Thursday, after releasing the payroll (before 5PM I might add, which is a miracle) I had a meeting with my VP, Director, and Finance Manager. It was during that meeting where they informed me that I was officially being promoted!!!

The department was being restructured and they created a position for me, an entry-level management position with a direct report. I will be running the payroll department under the Finance Manager, who will be shifting back into overseeing the production payroll and finance operations here in Miami. I will also be responsible for anything and everything having to do with our collective bargaining agreement. The announcement was made on Friday, during our team offsite led by our VP and HR manager, and I officially start as Payroll Supervisor on Monday!

We went out to celebrate last night, after I got off work, but ironically I had an allergic reaction to the Rose Lemonade I ordered. My face turned bright red, and started to really swell. I’ve had a small reaction before, but never this bad. Let’s just say I will not be drinking Rose in the future. I’ll stick to beer, Prosecco, and vodka!

Anyway, to finish off this rant of a post. I’m going to say what I’m grateful for which is 1) a job I love, 2) family who encourage and support me, and 3) the new chapter I’ll be starting on Monday.

Here is to a great weekend!
