Tattoo’d

I have five tattoos.

My first tattoo I got when I was studying abroad in Spain the summer before my Senior year in high school…I wasn’t even 18 yet. I think about it today and honestly I should have picked something better, but it’s a cross. I was in a Catholic school and it was my first tattoo…WHATEVER.

High School Graduation party (note tattoo on wrist)

My second tattoo I got with best fried and it was a heart and peace sign intertwined together; it’s on my right hip along my bikini line.

My third tattoo I got after I lost Enzo; it’s behind my neck, under the hair line and it’s baby feet with angel wings.

April 2014 – My first Enzo tattoo

My fourth tattoo is also a tribute to Enzo; it’s actually the Enso circle. Enzo in Japanese means circle, so this symbol ties closely to Zen practices. The Enso tattoo symbolizes strength, enlightenment, infinity, the universe, the void and elegance. I did add an addition tribute to my paternal grandmother in this tattoo by adding a little elephant within the Enso circle. Elephants are traditionally symbols of good luck, wisdom, and protection.

My fifth tattoo I got in the middle of last year; it’s a semi-colon on my right wrist HOWEVER instead of the circle in the semi colon I put a heart. This is tribute to mental health and the idea that just because you’re facing a difficult time, it doesn’t have to be the end. Instead of a period, use a semi-colon and create a new story.

Mental Health Awareness

I have been itching for another tattoo, but with COVID I haven’t been able to get it. In a way it’s been a blessing in disguise because I haven’t figured out exactly where or what I want. I have an entire section in a board on Pinterest with ideas that I’ve been contemplating.
